turn taxes into scholarships

for students in need

Governor Hochul Indicates Support for the Educational Choice for Children Act.

Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC).

The EFTC provides a federal tax credit of up to $1,700. Gateway Academy supporters can redirect a portion of their federal tax liability toward student scholarships instead of sending those dollars to Washington.

For example:

  • You owe $5,000 in federal income taxes for 2027.
  • You make a $1,700 donation to an SGO in 2027.
  • That SGO sends $1,700 to Gateway Academy.
  • You claim a $1,700 tax credit in 2028.
  • Your federal tax bill is reduced to $3,300.

Unlike a traditional charitable deduction, the EFTC provides a dollar-for-dollar federal tax credit, allowing your tax dollars to fund scholarships for Gateway Academy students. Participation is not limited to people who live in New York.

If just 400 supporters participate at the maximum level, more than $600,000 could be generated annually!
